Q: When did HOOP get started?
A: In the fall of 2004, Deputy Kelley Hayworth of he Marion County Sheriff's Department had a goal of helping the homeless on the streets of Indianapolis and HOOP was started.
Q: Where is HOOP located?
A: HOOP is based in Indianapolis with volunteers located in the surrounding towns and communities. We do not have a store front or physical address. We use a downtown storage facility to store our donations and materials.
Q: What does an "evening" outing look like?
A: A HOOP outing generally start with the team leader designating a meeting time and place based on the availability of the team. Prior to arrival, the team leader will visit the food preparation facility and pick up the food that will be distributed that night. Clothing and other necessities will be picked up from the storage facility and loaded in the team vehicles. Once the vehicles are loaded, the team will drive a pre-determined route to visit various homeless camps and known gather places to pass out food and necessities.

A: They are located in and around the downtown Indianapolis area. Camps can mostly be found along the river, under bridges and underpasses and some alleys. The gather places are generally found in the parks and open ares within downtown.
